There are several networks categorized from a reachable distance. Here are 3 main and necessary to know :

  • LAN NETWORK

The LAN, or known as Local Area Network. As the name implies, this network is a type of network that is local in nature which means that only certain computers can be connected to this network.

  • MAN NETWORK

The MAN or which stands for Metropolitan Area Network. Usually MAN is the concept of a computer network that is within one city, or several cities that are close to each other.

  • WAN Network

The WAN, or what is known as Wide Area Network. WAN network includes network connections between islands, countries and also continents.

Types of Network Topologies

After getting to know LAN, MAN, and WAN. Now we will move on to the same one related to networking, namely topologies. There are three types of commonly used network topologies, namely Bus, Star and Ring. Topology Network Topology is a pattern of relationships between terminals in a computer network.

  • Bus Topology

Known as bus-network, which is suitable for use in areas that are not too large. Each computer (each node) will be connected by a communication cable. Any computer can communicate on an equal footing. To access data from one of the nodes, the user simply mentions the address of the node in question.

  • Ring Topology

On this network there are several pieces of equipment connected to each other and will eventually form a chart just like a ring. The ring network does not have a point that acts as a center or data traffic controller, all nodes have the same level.

  • Star Topology

In the star topology, some existing equipment will be connected into one computer center. Existing controls will be centered at a single point, such as setting up workloads as well as setting up existing resources. All links must be related to the center if you want to channel data to other destinations.
